About Brandon

I'm Brandon, a full-time photographer based in Charlotte, North Carolina for 11 years.

I photograph weddings, families, and the occasional event, but weddings are where most of my work is focused.

I came to photography because I liked paying attention.

The things most people overlook. The person standing just outside the group. A parent watching from across the room. Friends laughing about something that won't make it into the timeline. What happens five minutes before everyone is ready. What happens after everyone thinks the important part is over.

Those things have always interested me more than making everything look perfect.

How I photograph

I don't think a wedding needs to revolve around the photographer.

There will be moments when I'll give you some direction. We'll make time for family photographs. I'll help when you need it.

But most of the day, I'm watching.

I'm looking for what's actually happening rather than constantly creating something to photograph. That means I'm often somewhere you don't notice me, waiting for a moment rather than asking you to recreate one.

The goal isn't to make your wedding look like someone else's.

It's to make photographs that remind you what it actually felt like to be there.

Outside of weddings

Photography isn't something I only do when I'm being paid for it.

I'm interested in long term documentary photography, personal projects, and making photographs. Those projects have a lot to do with why I approach weddings the way I do.

I'm still interested in the same thing:

Paying attention to what is actually there.

A little more about me

I live in the Charlotte area and spend a lot of my time photographing, editing, exploring, and trying to find something worth photographing when I'm not working.

I'm probably happier wandering around with a camera than I am at a networking event.

And I'd rather have a good conversation than give you a carefully rehearsed version of who I am.
