My Fall Mini Sessions are photographed in a documentary style, capturing the real interactions, laughter, movement, and little moments that make your family yours.
We'll still make time for a few beautiful posed family portraits—but you won't spend the entire session looking at the camera.

Instead of constantly asking everyone to smile, I'll give your family room to interact naturally. I'll guide you when needed, but I'll mostly be watching for the moments that happen on their own.

Every session includes a high-quality 8×10 framed print—a photograph you can actually hold and display in your home. You can opt for a $75 print store credit if you prefer.
Candid + posed photographs
The session is primarily candid and documentary, but I'll also make sure we capture a few classic family portraits with everyone looking at the camera.

You don't need to know how to pose or what to do. I'll guide you when necessary and let things unfold naturally when they don't need direction.

What does a session actually look like?
What to expect
There's no complicated posing routine.
We'll spend our time together doing something simple—walking, playing, exploring, sitting together, or whatever feels natural for your family and the location.
I'll photograph the interactions as they happen.
If your kids are running around, I'll follow them.
If everyone settles in for a quiet moment, I'll photograph that too.
And when the time is right, I'll step in and create a few traditional portraits you may want for a holiday card.
The goal isn't to make your family look perfect.
It's to make photographs that feel like your family.
Location
I have various locations all around Charlotte. I will send a list and help recommend the perfect location that works best for you and your family. If you have a place you already want to use, we can definitely do that. Some clients prefer to do sessions in their homes and I love that.
Some locations I use are Freedom Park, Camp North End, Glencairn Gardens, Jetton Park, McDowell Nature Preserve.
Frequently Asked Questions
Do we have to pose?
No. The session is primarily candid and documentary-style. I'll give you direction when it's helpful and will also make sure we get some traditional posed family photographs.
What if my kids don't cooperate?
That's completely okay. In fact, that's part of why I photograph this way. Kids don't need to sit perfectly still for 45 minutes. I'll work with their energy and let the session unfold naturally.
Do we get all of the photos?
Your session includes 25 edited digital images. I'll curate the strongest photographs from your session and deliver them in an online gallery.
Where will the sessions take place?
Sessions will take place at a carefully selected outdoor location in the Charlotte area. Your exact location and session details will be provided when you book.
Can we get photographs with everyone looking at the camera?
Absolutely. While my approach is primarily candid, I understand the importance of a few traditional family portraits.
What should we wear?
I recommend comfortable clothing that allows everyone to move naturally with neutral colors. Coordinating rather than perfectly matching usually photographs beautifully. I'll send you additional guidance after booking.
