Charlotte Wedding Photography at Nuvole Rooftop TwentyTwo (Carey & Jonathan)

Carey and Jonathan’s wedding day at Nuvole Rooftop TwentyTwo felt like the kind of celebration where everything is happening at once—friends coming in and out, family soaking it all in, and the city skyline sitting right there as the backdrop. Nuvole is in the heart of Uptown Charlotte, perched at the top of a skyscraper, and it’s one of those venues that instantly gives a wedding a sense of energy and scale.

Nuvole Rooftop TwentyTwo as a wedding venue

Nuvole is not a massive venue, but the experience feels big because of the setting: skyline views, modern architecture, and an elevated vibe that photographs beautifully. If you want an Uptown Charlotte wedding that feels sleek and intentional (without feeling stiff), Nuvole is a strong choice.Thank you, Carey & Jonathan. It was an honor being your wedding photographer on this important day. Wish you both all the best.

Documentary wedding photography at Nuvole

My approach is simple: I’m there to document how it actually felt.

Getting ready: quiet observation, real reactions

During getting ready, I’m trying to go unnoticed. That’s when the honest stuff happens—nerves, laughter, the small interactions, the pauses. Those moments are usually gone in a blink, and they’re the ones couples tend to value more and more as time passes.

Formal photos: efficient, then back to the day

We knocked out the formal group photos in about 20 minutes at The Green (a nearby park in Uptown), and then I spent a little time with Carey and Jonathan for portraits—without turning it into a production.

Most couples don’t want a long, posed photo session in the middle of their wedding day. They want time together. So I keep things moving, give them space, and watch for the split-second connections that happen naturally when people stop “performing” for the camera.

Photo locations near Nuvole (quick portrait options)

If you’re getting married at Nuvole, Uptown gives you a few great options that don’t require much time:

  • The Green (fast, clean, and close)

  • Side streets and modern building lines nearby (great for simple, graphic portraits)

  • Rooftop edges and skyline views at Nuvole (especially if you can step out for 5 minutes)

The goal isn’t to “hunt” locations. It’s to use what’s close and let the day keep flowing. Great photos are more about light, timing and composition, rather than finding the perfect spot.

Timeline tips for a Nuvole Rooftop wedding

If you want the best photos and a relaxed day:

  • Build in 10–15 minutes for the two of you to step away together (once before the ceremony, once during golden hour if possible).

  • Keep family formals tight and pre-listed (I’ll help you plan it).

  • If skyline photos matter to you, plan for a quick rooftop moment before the reception gets too deep.

What you’ll receive (my standard coverage experience)

  • Sneak peeks within 24 hours

  • Full gallery typically delivered in 3–4 weeks

  • True-to-life color, plus black & white selections (and I include the color version as well)

  • Coverage that prioritizes story, emotion, and strong composition over “just taking more photos”

Below are some of my favorite images from their day—moments big and small that show the pace, the energy, and the relationships that made it what it was.

Thank you, Carey and Jonathan. It was an honor to photograph this.
