A Sweet Surprise Proposal at McGill Rose Garden in Charlotte, NC
Here’s some images from a surprise proposal I did at one of my favorite spots, McGill Rose Garden during sunset. Since the proposal was a surprise, I sat at a nearby table pretending to be working on my laptop, while waiting for Justin to get down on one knee and pop the question.
The reaction? Pure gold. Shock. Laughter. Happy tears. And of course — a big, joyful YES.
There’s something really special about photographing a proposal. It all happens so fast, but the emotions are real and raw and completely unscripted. I try to stay in the background as much as possible, letting the couple have their moment, while quietly documenting every detail. From the look on their faces to the way they held each other afterward — these are the memories you want to bottle up and keep forever.
After the proposal, we spent a little more time walking through the garden for a mini engagement session. With the nerves gone, they could just relax, soak in the moment, and celebrate the fact that they’re engaged!
Sessions like this remind me why I love what I do. Every love story is different, but getting to witness and capture these once-in-a-lifetime moments never gets old.
