Family Photography at UNC Charlotte Botanical Gardens Trail
Some of the best family photographs happen when there’s room to slow down, explore, and simply spend time together.
This family session at the UNC Charlotte Botanical Gardens Trail offered a beautiful setting for exactly that. Surrounded by greenery, winding paths, and the natural textures of the gardens, we spent time documenting the family as they interacted and enjoyed being together.
Rather than making every photograph a formal portrait, I wanted to leave space for the little moments that make each family unique: the expressions, the connections, the laughter, and the quieter interactions that happen when everyone feels comfortable.
As a documentary family photographer, I’m drawn to photographs that preserve more than what a family looked like at a particular age. I want to capture something of what life felt like during that season—the relationships, the personalities, and the small details that might otherwise fade with time.
The natural surroundings at UNC Charlotte Botanical Gardens Trail provided a wonderful backdrop without needing to become the focus of the session. The photographs remained centered on the family and the time they shared together.
Family photographs become increasingly meaningful as the years pass. Children grow, routines change, and ordinary moments become memories we wish we could revisit. My goal is to create photographs that bring those memories back to life.
